Solosolo & Letogo, Samoa
Building Youth Around the World returned from a humanitarian mission. A special thank you to the DeVere and Pauga families.
The Samoa trip was incredible and any attempt at describing all the good that was done over 8 days would be truly impossible. However, below is a good outline of what occurred that you may find of benefit as you think about participating in future projects. Some of the things that were accomplished:
Evening deliveries of hundreds of pounds of food (generally about a 1 month supply) to 16 different families within various villages to include Vailele, Solo Solo, Laulii, Letogo, Fagalii, etc.
Delivery of food supplies to a new orphanage that we found and will work with in future projects (see 2nd and 3rd attached photos)
Refurbishment and painting of three rooms at the Laulii Primary School
Refurbishment and painting of three rooms at the Letogo Primary School
Sponsorship and attendance at the 1st ever Building Youth Around the World basketball tournament which had 24 high school basketball teams (12 boys and 12 girls’ teams) compete. Many were learning the basic essentials of basketball and it was wonderful to be a part of it. The four youth who came on this trip (Christopher, MaKel, Chloe, and Kaetlyn) interviewed on Samoan National television!
